SAVE NATURAL MEDICINES

Bio-Identical Hormones

Homeopathics

New regulations are endangering Bio-Identical Hormones and Homeopathics.  The FDA has determined that there is no need for Bio-Identical Hormones.  The FDA believes that Bio-Identical Hormones are a duplication of pharmaceutical FDA approved hormones like premarin, estrace, provera, prempro, etc.  Because compounding pharmacies are not allowed to compound medications of an FDA approved drug which treats the same condition, compounding Bio-Identical Hormones would be illegal.

Homeopathics have been successfully and safely used for over two centuries and are used by 40% of the European population. Homeopathic medicines are made with extremely dilute amounts of the the substance, so dilute in fact that often there is no trace of the ingredient.  They work via subtle energy so large amounts of the ingredients are not needed.  They are considered by the FDA to be dangerous and ineffective. The perceived danger is that some ingredients are toxic in large doses even though the the preparations do not use high doses.  An additional perceived danger is that people might delay conventional treatment and use homeopathic preparations instead.  This is considered as a danger in the use of any treatment that is not FDA approved or part of the American Medical Board standard protocol.

When using any kind of medicine, good judgement is important.  Whether you are getting surgery, taking a prescription or taking vitamins.  We must be proactive about health care and be well informed about our personal choices.  Conventional standard treatments are determined by insurance company personnel with the input of doctors.  Doctor that contract with insurance companies can only recommend treatments that are covered by the insurance company.  That leaves it up to each individual to exercise diligence in searching out alternative and complementary treatments.
